- Lillian Russell in the title role of the operetta, The Grand Duchess, music by Jacques Offenbach, libretto by Charles Lamb Kenney and Edgar Smith, based on La Grande Duchesse de Gérolstein by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy. Scene depicted is Lillian Russell's first act entrance. Dressed in ermine, she arrived on stage seated in a sleigh, driving through a blinding paper snowstorm.

- A popular operetta, The Grand Duchess was revived, with Lillian Russell in the title role, several times over a five year period. It opened at the Casino, New York, N.Y., running Feb. 25-May 31, 1890; then at the Casino Roof Garden, New York, July 13-Aug. 22, 1891, the Hyperion, New Haven, Conn., with Clarence Day making a guest appearance as a muzhik (Russian peasant), in New York at Abbey's Theatre, Dec. 4-22, 1894, and Boston's Tremont Theatre, Dec. 31, 1894-Jan. 12(?), 1895.
