Shirley Ubell, a longtime student and friend of Mary Anthony, describes how she began to study with Anthony at the New Dance Group studio in 1955, and later followed Anthony to her own studio ; Anthony's qualities as a teacher ; Anthony's personal qualities, including her serenity, energy, agelessness and integrity ; the diversity of her students and her generosity towards them ; her transformation of dancer Mary Ford ; the homelike atmosphere of Anthony's dance studio ; her impressions of Anthony as a dancer.
