Summary

1. Christopher Gillis discusses joining the Paul Taylor Dance Company, and his own training and family background. Ruth Andrien remembers her first experiences with the company rehearsing Esplanade. Stern recalls Paul Taylor's distinctive dancing. The three discuss the preservation and continuity of Taylor's style among dancers in the company, and the way Taylor's views are reflected in his choreography. They then talk about Taylor's dog, Didi, the training for Taylor's choreography, especially for male dancers, the individuality and selflessness of dancers in the company, and their relationships with Taylor. The interview concludes with a discussion of the increasing popularity of the company, and their experiences performing for different audiences.
