Summary
Norman Walker discusses the history of the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival and Ted Shawn and His Men Dancers. He describes the Pillow's historic support of young dancers and unknown companies, and the intimacy of the Pillow's Theater. Walker discusses his increased involvement at Jacob's Pillow, from presenting his own company to becoming the director of the Festival and School. Walker describes his continuation of Shawn's tradition of mixing famous and unknown companies; the audiences at Jacob's Pillow, the increased interest in modern dance; and the resulting economic changes.
