Summary
  1. Documentary on the achievements of the elderly in various countries around the world. Subjects/interviewees include two retired Peruvian schoolteachers who study traditional Andean music and dance (including a hunting dance, shown on camera) ; a Portuguese priest and historian in Macau ; choreographer Agnes de Mille ; a Japanese philanthropist ; the Italian patriarch of a dynasty of circus performers ; a Masai woman who describes the key role of elderly women in preserving and transmitting Masai culture ; a Bedouin sheikh, one of whose roles is judge for his tribe ; Roebuck Staples, an African-American clergyman and gospel singer in Chicago who formed the Staple Singers with his family. Agnes de Mille, whose segment begins ca. 15 min. into the tape, is seen at the age of 78, rehearsing three of her works: Inconsequentials (danced by Christine Sarry and Michel Rahn [?]), Texas fourth and "Come to me, bend to me" from Brigadoon. The discussion includes her choreography for Oklahoma! (illustrated with film clips) and her success in surmounting the stroke she suffered in 1975.
