Summary
  • Second episode of an adaptation of Alex Haley's Roots, in which he traces his family's history from the mid-18th century when one of his ancestors, Kunta Kinte, was captured and sold into slavery. The series follows the struggle for freedom which began with the young man's abduction and was continued by his descendants.
  • Kunta Kinte survives the voyage of a slaveship and is sold at an Annapolis slave auction. Fiddler, the slave in charge of his training, becomes his only friend; the friendship is tested when Kunta plans an escape to be with a woman he loves.
