- "An early edition marked up for performance in a number of German hands, with a concert ending for the Overtüre inserted on a separate leaf. German translation entered throughout, and with performance indications, deletions, alterations and annotations ("...bleibt weg...Gilt in Berlin...von Madame Milder in Es dur gesungen..."), in brown ink and in pencil. Hopkinson 44A (k) records the first German edition (vocal score) by Simrock (Bonn, ca. 1815). The first performance in Berlin was given in 1817 when Anna Milder was singing there"--Sotheby's auction catalog, 12/4/98.
