Summary
Documentary on the life and career of dancer-choreographer Salvatore Aiello, who died on Oct. 14, 1995, with special emphasis on his work as artistic director of North Carolina Dance Theatre. He is remembered as a performer by his former colleagues in the Harkness Ballet, Lili Cockerille Livingston and Marina Eglevsky (his first wife), and choreographer Oscar Araiz, in whose ballets he danced. His tenure with North Carolina Dance Theatre is recalled by Robert Lindgren, the company's founder; Jerri Kumery, associate artistic director; and past and present company members Mia Cunningham, Timothy Rinehart Yeager, Heather Maloy, Kati Hanlon, Hernan Justo, Barry Leon, Kimberly Crowder, Mel Tomlinson, Jennifer Cavanaugh. Detailed discussions of his ballets are illustrated by performance and/or rehearsal excerpts.
