John Taras speaks with Kyra Lynn Kaptzan about how he became a choreographer; performing as a dancer at the 1939 World's Fair; becoming a rehearsal director for American Ballet Theatre; staging ballets for Alicia Markova and Anton Dolin; his sources of choreographic inspiration. He describes the job of ballet master and then discusses the process of staging George Balanchine's ballets; future plans; selecting dancers for New York City Ballet.
