- Biography
Playwright, actor and film director. Ted Lange's Isaac Washington, the hip bartender on ABC's "The Love Boat" from 1977 to 1986, provided him with steady employment, recognition and world travel. Ted Lange was trained in the classical theater, particularly Shakespeare. He has played "Othello" in a movie version. As a playwright and director, he has often worked behind the scenes on stage and TV, directing a number of "Love Boat" episodes as well as "The New Gidget," "Mike Hammer" and "Starman." Before the camera, he appeared as a guest star on the UPN Network's "Malcolm and Eddie" and Fox's "Martin." Two plays that he wrote ran recently (1997) in Los Angeles: "Four queens - no trump" and "Soul survivor," in which he also played a role.
