Summary
Performance based on the folk culture of immigrants from India who settled in the Caribbean area, including Guyana, Surinam, Trinidad, and Jamaica. The word "kitchrie" denotes a ritual meal offered by the bride to the bridegroom at a Hindu wedding; it can also signify a potpourri of music, song and dance. After the performance, Pritha Singh, representing The Rajkumari Cultural Center, and Ethel Raim, executive director of the Center for Traditional Music and Dance, present a certificate of achievement to Guru Bharat Dass.
