Its new artistic director, Judith Jamison, talks about the company's current activities, aims, and future, and is seen supervising rehearsals and participating in one of the company's outreach programs, a summer day camp for young people in Kansas City. Guy Darmet, director of the Biennale de la danse in Lyon, France, discusses the company's success as a part of the festival. Brief statements by students at the company's school, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, point up the school's importance to the continuation of the company. The program includes performance excerpts of Ailey's Revelations and other works.
