- Disc 2 (ca. 59 min.): [Dances] / performed by Roots of Brazil, including Maculele (stick dance ; remnant of a warrior dance attributed to the Cucumbis of Angola) and Capoeira (game of Angolan heritage) -- Blessings of twenty years of DanceAfrica / performed by Mask Dance Company ; dance work in four parts: I, initates communicate with the masks (gods) ; II, called by the initates, the Guegbin mask, representing protective power, comes to deter evil spirits ; III, the Flaly mask, representing beauty and happiness, amuses the evil spirits and assists the initiates and Guegbin in eradicating them ; IV, celebration of renewed faith, hope, spirituality and balance of life -- Grand finale / featuring all of the afternoon's performers.
