Biography
Playwright, actor, commercial artist/cartoonist, and set designer, Billy Graham was born in New York City. Graham is a graduate of High School of Music and Art, and the School of Visual Arts. He began his career as a commercial artist, first becoming art director of Warren Publishing. He turned to free-lance art work, and was the first black cartoonist/illustrator hired by Marvel Comics. Since 1974 Graham has turned his talents to the theater, as actor, playwright, set and poster designer, and publicist. His work has been produced by the Frank Silvera Writers Workshop, the Negro Ensemble Company, and the New Federal Theater in New York City. Graham was twice nominated for AUDELCO (Audience Development Committee) Recognition Awards for Set Design, 1982-1983; he was also nominated by AUDELCO as most outstanding playwright of 1983-1984, for his play "The trial of Adam Clayton Powell, Jr.," 1981.
