Note

A magnificent edtion of the Bible printed by the Royal Press at Paris. The impression was principally distributed in presents.
Illustrated general and New Testament title-pages. The title-pages to v. 2-5, and v.8 (v.2 of the New Testament) bear the royal arms of France enclosed within a narrow frame. New Testament title-page dated 1640. v. 2 of the New Testament dated 1642 and continously paged.
Text printed in very large type, with twenty-one lines to the full page. General title engraved by G. Mellan from painting of N. Poussin. The New Testament title represents two angels holding a book which is inscribed with the words Novum ... Testamentum. The volumes contain also many vignettes and initial letters engraved on copper.
Bound in old red morocco, tooled, with gilt edges, with the royal arms of France stamped on the sides.
