Note
  1. Title from Loys Delteil and Harold Wright, Catalogue raisonné of the etchings of Charles Meryon.
  2. According to Loys Delteil, Meryon published this set in 3 parts between 1852 and 1854, although according to James D. Burke in Charles Meryon Prints & Drawings, it is not certain that this was actually accomplished. An edition was printed by Auguste Delâtre in 1861 after Meryon retouched some of the plates.
  3. DW26 includes pencil inscriptions by artist to an unidentified man. DW35 and DW38 include pencil notations by artist either describing the state or proposing changes for future states, which he later carried out. DW36 includes pencil verses by artist of an early version of L'Hôtellerie de la Mort.
  4. DW22 and DW39 were not included by Loys Delteil in this set since they were unpublished.
  5. The states are listed according to Harold Wright's updated edition of Loys Delteil, Catalogue raisonné of the etchings of Charles Meryon. Other catalogs list the states differently.
