Summary
Streaming audio file (approximately 30 minutes). Marian Horosko introduces John Christian, Executive Director of Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival; John Christian speaks with Marian Horosko about the history of Jacob's Pillow; some of the earlier performers including such noted dancers as Alicia Alonso and Erik Bruhn and noted companies as the Royal Danish Ballet; Jacob's Pillow as a showcase for ethnic dancers; documenting performances through film; Horosko and Christian speak about films she has seen of Ted Shawn performing The death of Adonis and of Doris Humphrey performing Hoop dance; the upcoming season at the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival including performances by Violette Verdy and Lotte Goslar; (very briefly) his own dance training; more on the upcoming season including the performers Mata and Hari [Ruth Mata and Eugene Hari], the German company Gruppe Motion Berlin; the new ballet company, Center Ballet of Buffalo; the Afro-American Dance Ensemble, Edward Villella and Patricia McBride; and Nala Najan, who will also dance with students who have attended the summer program; administrative details regarding attending the Festival; closing remarks.

A film of Ted Shawn dancing The death of Adonis is held by The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts and is cataloged under the class mark: *MGZHB 4-131. This film includes Doris Humphrey dancing Hoop dance.
