- Summary
- Mr. Butler discusses his recent choreographic works for the Spoleto and Caramoor festivals; and his interest in theater pieces inspired by Martha Graham and Gian-Carlo Menotti. Carmen De Lavallade, Buzz Miller, and Robert Power then discuss their characters in Butler's dance Catulli carmina [followed by musical excerpts by Carl Orff (3 min.)]
- Mr. Gersten discusses the Harkness festival at New York City's Delacorte Theatre; some of the companies that have performed at the Delacorte since 1962; the increased public support; the New York Shakespeare Festival's purchase of the Astor Building on Lafayette Street and its conversion into multiple theaters and dance rehearsal spaces; and the NYSF's children's programs, which are co-directed by Lotte Goslar and sponsored by the New York Shakespeare Festival.
