Note
  • Added t.-p.: True stories ... tr. into Gaelic by "Fionn" ... Paisley, A. Gardner, 1906-07.
  • Includes a few "original or adapted contributions." The greater part of v. 1 (p. 105-261) is the story of the Jacobite rebellion, 1745-46, and the wanderings of Prince Charlie, the Pretender; probably a translation or adaptation from Andrew Lang. The story of Grace Darling (v. 1, p. 64-72) is probably also from Lang. Vol. 2 includes 3 translations from "Tales and legends of the Highlands, by A. MacKenzie, 1878," the Merchant of Venice from Lambs' "Tales" (p. 83-105) and selections from "Legends of the Black Watch, by James Grant" (p. 175-263).
