- Thomas Curtis Clark, a Disciples of Christ evangelist, compiled, in this volume, three hundred and fifty poems by two hundred poets (from Plato, to Whitman, to Edwin Markham), on the theme of social justice, with the majority of poems dating from the early 20th century.
- Contributors include Louis Ginsberg, the father of Beat poet Allen Ginsberg.
- Zona Gale (August 26, 1874 – December 27, 1938) was an American author and playwright. She became the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1921.
