  4. Engraved title vignette by William Mulready; six additional engraved plates, each with twelve small illustrations, each representing a fable.
  5. Godwin established his Juvenile Library in the name of Thomas Hodgkins, whom he employed to run the bookshop. When Hodgkins was discovered pilfering shop profits, Godwin had him removed from the business, despite the fact that it legally belonged to Hodgkins. The company was soon reestablished under the name of Godwin's second wife, Mary Jane (cf. St. Clair's The Godwins and the Shelleys).
