- Description from Revill, The roaring silence: John Cage, a life: A form scheme for the activities had been devised by chance means...Cage read one of his lectures...[Merce] Cunningham danced...[David] Tudor played the piano. [Robert] Rauschenberg played scratchy records...his "White" painting hung from the rafters. Mary Caroline Richards....Charles Olsen...and two other people projected slides and movies at various points on the walls. This "concerted action" has often been construed as the prototype for the multimedia "happenings" of the sixties.
