Summary
The James Elson papers contain correspondence, personal papers, writings, production materials and scripts. Productions include AMERICA'S MUSIC, COKE TIME, MUSIC FROM SHUBERT ALLEY, THAT WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS and THE ZIEGFELD TOUCH, among others. Personal papers include college writings and correspondence both from friends and professional associates of his studio career. The script series contains annotated scripts for many of the television programs he produced or directed.
Biography
James Elson, producer and director was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 26, 1925. During his career he directed and produced theater, radio and television shows. He directed television programs such as THE TONIGHT SHOW, THAT WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS and THE STEVE ALLEN SHOW. He died on April 26, 1970.
