- Hayden Carruth (originally Fred Hayden Carruth) (1862-1932) was an American newspaper publisher, journalist, humorist, and author of juvenile fiction. After working for various weekly newspapers in the Midwest, he moved to New York City where he was an editor at the New York Tribune, Harper's Magazine and the Woman's Home Companion.
