  • Comprises 2 decks of plasticized pictorial playing cards (54 card standard decks, identical except for back design, each with 2 additional cards with descriptive letterpress), printed in black, red, gold and blue-green, and illustrated text volume in which the cards are reproduced (printed in black, red and gold) and the designs elucidated.
  • "Richard Ellmann ... has devised the intricate scheme, and R. Fanto has executed the ... drawings"--Colophon.
  • "Printed in Italy."
  • Text vol. ([34] p.) printed from Garamond italic types on one side of a strip formed from 6 joined sheets of Vergata antique paper, folded accordion style and attached at its ends to separate gilt-stamped boards with double portrait of Wilde smoking a cigar mounted on front.
  • The king of hearts depicts Wilde holding a cigarette; the 5 of diamonds depicts Jack's cigarette case from The importance of being earnest (cf. p. [12] of text).
  • Issued in gilt-stamped cloth case with cedar lined bottom with divisions for the cards.
