Biography (note)
  • Roger Wood's first dance photographs, of Ballets Jooss, were taken in July, 1944. Wood then continued to photograph many dancers and dance companies as they performed in London and other parts of Europe from 1944-1961; he also photographed London opera and theatrical productions. His dance photographs were published in several periodicals (Ballet, Ballet annual, Dance and dancers, Dance magazine, Dance news, Dancing times, Theatre arts) and in three small monographs: The New York City Ballet - in action (Saturn Press, 1953?); The Sadler's Wells Ballet (Saturn Press, 1951); The Theatre Ballet of Sadler's Wells in photographs (Phoenix House, 1952). Other of Wood's London theater photographs appeared in Shakespeare at the Old Vic (various editions, 1954-1958) and A D'Oyly Carte album (two editions, 1953 and 1958).

Roger Wood's first dance photographs, of Ballets Jooss, were taken in July, 1944.
