Summary
Fifth of a five-part series. Overview of European contemporary dance, particularly in France, tracing its roots, influences from abroad such as Butō from Japan, and current trends and developments, including new interpretations of works of the past, cine- and videodance, and the interest in minority dances such as hip-hop, and the impact of AIDS. The work of both native-born Europeans and foreigners working in Europe is explored.
