Summary
Monica Parker, a specialist in Benesh choreology, discusses her work. She relates how Rudolf Benesh developed this notation system, and gives a verbal description of some of its symbols. She recalls some ballets she has notated or reconstructed, among them a revival of Joe Layton's The grand tour, and notes some problems of reconstructing dances from notation. A member of the organizing committee for the International Congress on Movement Notation, she discusses the aims of the first two congresses in Tel Aviv (1984) and Hong Kong (1990).
