Summary
Fifth of a series of six videotapes made as a record of Richard Thomas's method of teaching classical ballet. The first four tapes (barre, *MGZIC 9-3394; adagio, *MGZIC 9-3395; pirouettes, *MGZIC 9-3396; and allegro, *MGZIC 9-3397) focus on specific areas of the class and were specially arranged for videotaping. The fifth tape (class, *MGZIC 9-3398) follows a standard class sequence. Thomas frequently pauses to explain the principles underlying the movements he is teaching, and to reminisce about his own teachers (who included Bronislava Nijinska, Vincenzo Celli, Anatole Oboukhoff, and Anatole Vilzak) and notable dancers. In the sixth tape (*MGZIC 9-3399), Thomas is interviewed by Eliot Feld.
