Summary
Unedited footage, recorded for the documentary Ruth Page: Once upon a dancer (1988). For the completed documentary, see: *MGZIA 4-1249 cassette 129. Nicolas Petrov, founder and director of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, recalls his collaboration with Ruth Page, who staged many ballets for his company with the help of Kenneth Johnson and other members of her own company. He compares her choreographic approach to that of Léonide Massine, discusses some reasons for the popularity of her works, and assesses her standing among American choreographers.
