Summary
Unedited footage, recorded for the documentary Ruth Page: Once upon a dancer (1988). For the completed documentary, see: *MGZIA 4-1249 cassette 129. Dolores Lipinski looks back upon her dance career and Ruth Page's place in it as teacher, choreographer, and formative influence. She reminisces about touring with Page's company, describing a typical day on the road, and audience responses to works such as Bolero. Noting that different roles present different challenges, she describes the creation of Carmina burana. She recalls the hard work and sacrifices entailed by a dancer's life in the 1950s and 60s.
