- Summary
- Choreographers Holly Fairbank and Victoria Marks talk about their experiences of working abroad, respectively in China and England. They share their observations of Chinese and British dancers and their attitudes to their art, including their sense of political awareness, and discuss how experience abroad has influenced their own work and helped them to redefine their concepts of American dance. Fairbank describes a Chinese system of dance notation. Marks discusses her piece Fiction, which is seen in a performance excerpt, along with Java jumping and Dancing to music. Fairbank is seen teaching modern dance and composition in China, and dancing in unidentified works.
