Description
  1. 1 videocassette (U-matic, NTSC) (28 min.) : sd., col.; 3/4 in.
Summary
  1. Choreographers David Dorfman, Ann Carlson, and Tamar Kotoske (a member of Kinematic, a choreographic collective) discuss their own work and comment upon some recent trends in dance. Topics covered include the need for dancers to transcend technical facility, the influence of contact improvisation, the movement away from formalism, and the contributions of text and visual elements in dealing with subject matter. Dorfman describes Bill T. Jones's use of Jenny Holzer's text in his Holzer duet...truisms. The work of the three guests is represented through several dance excerpts, including Kinematic's Broken hill and The snow queen; Carlson's Sarah, Real people: Lawyers [also titled Sloss, Kerr, Rosenberg and Moore], and Scared goats faint; and Dorfman's Fields, Valise, and Sleep story.
