Description
1 videocassette (U-matic, NTSC) (29 min.) : sd., col. with b&w sequences; 3/4 in.
Summary
Harold Nicholas, who formed half of the Nicholas Brothers dance team with his brother Fayard, reminisces about his dancing career. He recalls how he and his brother made up routines, and looks back upon their performances at the Cotton Club, where they performed along with the Berry Brothers, on Broadway, and in Hollywood, where they worked with choreographer Nick Castle. The duo is seen dancing in excerpts from the films Sun Valley serenade, Down Argentine way, Orchestra wives, Stormy weather, and others. Harold also recalls the dances George Balanchine created for them in the musical Babes in arms and the Ziegfeld Follies revue. He describes some of their best-known stunts, including one adopted by Donald O'Connor in the film Singin' in the rain. In an additional feature, percussionist Max Roach describes Harold's skill as a drummer, which is demonstrated in an excerpt in which they both appear.
