Description
  1. 1 videocassette (U-matic, NTSC) (28 min.) : sd., col.; 3/4 in.
Summary
  1. Producer Ellen Stewart discusses the concept of theater that led her to found La Mama Experimental Theater Club. Her discussion is illustrated by still photos of La Mama productions. Maureen Fleming, a dancer and choreographer, pays tribute to Stewart, and is seen in an excerpt from a Butō-inspired dance created under Stewart's aegis. Other performance excerpts recorded at La Mama include a comedy act by Jeffrey Essmann, Marleen Menard's Diamonds and toads, and Ping Chong and the Fiji Company in Kindness and Nosferatu. In Esoterica balletica, actress Colette Berger reflects upon the "choreography" of words in acting, and demonstrates various ways in which movement and speech can be combined.
