- Summary
- Dance critic Doris Hering, who was the first executive director of the National Association for Regional Ballet, and Todd Bolender, now artistic director of the State Ballet of Missouri, discuss the past and present condition of regional ballet in the U.S. Hering notes the contributions of Dorothy Alexander, founder of the Atlanta Ballet, the oldest surviving regional company. She and Bolender discuss dancers' changing attitudes towards regional companies, and explore benefits and disadvantages to be found in regional companies versus New York companies. The State Ballet of Missouri is seen in two works by Bolender, Five Chopin piano pieces and Mother Goose suite. Esoterica balletica features an excerpt from Molissa Fenley's Esperanto.
