Summary
Dr. Jay Adlersberg, an internist, talks about arthritis and some measures that afflicted dancers can take. Margaret Beals, a dancer/choreographer suffering from arthritis, describes her experiences in overcoming its debilitating effects, and is seen performing an excerpt of The teak room, written by her and directed by Tony Tanner. Dr. Aldersberg shows a tape of a dance class for arthritis patients which he developed in collaboration with physical therapist Bernadette Hecox. He also discusses tendinitis and the importance of good nutrition for dancers. Bernadette Hecox, aided by three demonstrators, appears on Esoterica balletica to describe how dance movements can be incorporated into rehabilitative physical therapy.
