Summary
The Reverend Al Carmines of Judson Memorial Church, New York, dancer/choreographer Bill Gordh, and Carla de Sola, founder/director of Omega Liturgical Dance Company discuss the historical and contemporary roles of dance in Christian worship. De Sola, who performs the excerpt Gloria, recounts her experiences of performing at modern rites of passage and of presenting her company in liturgical dances. Gordh describes how he has used his father's ideas and sermons as inspiration for his choreography, and performs an excerpt from Weaving. Carmines recalls the reception of Judson Dance Theatre by his congregation. In Esoterica balletica, John Neumeier talks about the personal significance of his ballet St. Matthew passion.
