Summary
  1. Guests are Shawneequa Baker-Scott, a dancer, teacher, and choreographer; Ayoka Chenzira, producer/director of the film Syvilla - They dance to her drum; and Kathe Sandler, producer/director of the film Remembering Thelma. They discuss the lives and influence of two outstanding black women, Syvilla Fort and Thelma Hill. Both are remembered as performers, Hill with Alvin Ailey's company and Fort with Katherine Dunham, and as inspirational teachers. Excerpts are screened from the films Remembering Thelma and Syvilla - They dance to her drum (b&w), as well as an excerpt from Baker-Scott's Every mother's child (b&w), danced by herself and Dyane Harvey. In the commentary Esoterica balletica, Betty Low recalls Loie Fuller's innovative use of lighting.
