Historical survey of Latin American music and dance in the U.S., with segments on the 1940s, 1950s, and 1970s, illustrated by excerpts from films and stage productions, interviews with musicians such as Tito Puente, commentaries by music historian Max Salazar and others, and still photographs. Topics covered include dances such as the tango, rumba, conga, samba, pachanga, bossa nova, boogaloo, and salsa; the influence of performers such as Carmen Miranda and Tango Argentino; and instruction in Latin American social dances.
