Summary
Choreographer Joel Schnee tells Billie Mahoney about his career. He graduated from the Juilliard School in New York; choreographed for summer stock in the early 1960's; worked with John Cranko and Todd Bolender in Germany; spent seven years in Scandinavia working on ballets, operas, television; choreographed avant-garde works in Switzerland; and has worked throughout other areas of Europe. He discusses the pros and cons of state-run theaters; difficulties in finding teaching jobs in U.S. universities without having numerous degrees in spite of extensive professional experience.
