- Note
- An engraving after a satirical sketch by Hogarth, prompted by the leaps and elevation of La Barberina and Desnoyer when they danced in London, circa 1741.
- A theatrical setting, standing spectators at boths sides applauding. Barberina Campanini is leaping in the air, both legs thrown out to the sides. Desnoyer, wearing a tonnelet and plumed headpiece, is also jumping, his feet in first position.
- Dotted lines indicating the height of the jumps and a "scale of feet" permit the viewer to appreciate the relative merits of each dancer.
- Reproduced in Dance Magazine, September 1950, p. 14.
