1. Profile of dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov, who talks about his decision to leave the U.S.S.R., the pressures of life in New York, partnering, and other topics. Included are brief commentaries by Clive Barnes, Martine van Hamel, Natalia Makarova, and Remi Saunder. Film clips show Baryshnikov in class and rehearsal with American Ballet Theatre at Kennedy Center in Washington, and he is also seen in still photographs by Richard Avedon, Tom Victor, and Martha Swope. He is seen performing brief excerpts from Makarova's staging of Marius Petipa's La bayadère; Alvin Ailey's Pas de Duke, which he rehearses with Judith Jamison; Twyla Tharp's Push comes to shove; and Kenneth MacMillan's Romeo and Juliet, with Makarova.
