Documentary on the Bunraku puppet theater including demonstrations of the carving and manipulation of the puppets. Two segments are performed from Chikamatsu Monzaemon's play The love suicides at Sonezaki (1703), with simultaneous translation of the play's narration by Faubion Bowers.
