- Classical Khmer Ballet was formerly known as The Royal Ballet of Cambodia. The performances of this company were reserved for members of Cambodian royalty and visiting heads of state. In 1970? the new government in Cambodia began allowing the Classical Khmer Ballet to perform in foreign countries including the United States. The new open touring policy made it possible for this performance in Nov. 1971 in New York.
