Mr. Barnes and Mr. Joffrey discuss the early years of the Joffrey Ballet; Marie Rambert; Vaslav Nijinsky, American dance in the 1940s; John Martin; the function of dance criticism; Mary Ann Wells; the influence of Martha Graham and George Balanchine on dance in America; the current fusion of ballet and modern dance; the Royal Ballet in the 1940s and 1950s. A brief question and answer period concludes the talk.
