- Summary: Erick Hawkins discusses his new work, Parson Weems and the cherry tree; his dance training; studying and working with George Balanchine; dancing in the Martha Graham Company; his own choreography; the development of his particular dance aesthetic. Recordings are played of selections from Lords of Persia by Lucia Dlugoszewski, the score for Mr. Hawkins' dance of the same name, and of the second movement of Virgil Thomson's Symphony no. 2, used for Hawkins' dance Hurrah!
