Alfredo Corvino speaks about his family background and dance training in Montevideo, Uruguay; meeting [Leonide] Massine in Uruguay; seeing the Jooss Ballet perform [Kurt Jooss's] The green table; becoming a member of the company and touring in South America and the United States; his summer with Eugene Loring's company Dance Players; touring with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo in the United States; his military service during World War II; teaching; his wife Marcella [Rubin] including an anecdote about their first meeting; dancing at the Metropolitan Opera ballet; the firing of most of the other dancers and the hiring of Antony Tudor and Margaret Craske; becoming a teacher, at Tudor's invitation, at the Juilliard [School], and at the Metropolitan Opera ballet school; opening his own school, in 1968; his approach to teaching.
