John Gruen, as host, introduces Leon Danielian; Leon Danielian and Gruen speak about his training including class with Mikhail Mordkin; his time at Ballet Theatre [now American Ballet Theatre]; [Gruen quotes Igor Stravinsky on, and plays a recording of Stravinsky's orchestration of the music by Peter Illich Tchaikovsky used for the "Bluebird pas de deux" from The sleeping beauty]; Danielian and Gruen speak about Danielian as a dancer; Alexandra Danilova; touring with the Ballet russe de Monte Carlo including its rigors; some of his roles; the difficulty of dancing [the spirit of the rose] in Michel Fokine's ballet Spectre de la rose [a recording of the music, Invitation to the waltz, by Karl Maria von Weber, used in Spectre de la rose, is played; commercial announcements follow]; Gruen and Danielian speak about the American Ballet Theatre School; what he looks for in a ballet student; the School's summer program [a recording of Robert Schumann's Carneval is played]; Gruen and Danielian speak about what Danielian likes to see in a dancer on stage [Gruen's closing remarks; music].
