Note
  • Interview with Mikhail Baryshnikov conducted by John Gruen at the New York State Theater [now the David H. Koch Theater] in New York City, on July 23, 1974. This interview was used as a basis for a chapter in John Gruen's book, The private world of ballet (1975). Dina Makarova is present as interpreter, translating Gruen's questions, which are in English, and Baryshnikov's responses, which are in Russian.
  • Sound quality is fair. The speakers' voices are often soft but are usually intelligible. Due to the fact that both the questions and the responses are being translated, sometimes voices overlap and are difficult to understand.
